This mat has double sided tape to help secure it in place to the floor during installation.  The system is operated using electricity, so the utmost care must be taken when installing and hooking up the electrical connections. You simply lay out the heating Mat covering the area you would like to heat and hook the wires up to the thermostat. The RED heating element CANNOT be cut to adjust its length. These systems are pre-sized at the factory.<br>The shape of the Mat can be manipulated by cutting the mesh material (do not cut the wire) and flipping and turning the Mat. The installation method is described in detail in the instruction manual. This system is designed to be in the mortar under the flooring. The heating element is less than 1/8" thick, so the rise in flooring height is negligible. The heating system must also be GFCI protected with a GFCI breaker, a GFCI outlet, or a GFCI thermostat.
